Teaching children to be confident and successful learners
Child Support Services is a year-round program providing care and academic support for children from infancy through school-age. We provide licensed home care for infants and toddlers under the age of three. The part time and full time California State Preschool Program serves three and four year olds. Finally, we support school-age children at five Elementary School sites with after school care. Approximately three hundred children are served by our programs.
While the center operates within the MUSD system and many of our families come from the Milpitas Unified School District, we are a state subsidized program. Because of this we support families from all over Santa Clara County. More than ninety percent of our families are enrolled based on state-established eligibility criteria, however state contracts also allow us to provide full-fee care for up to ten percent of our total program enrollment.
The staff establishes annual program goals based on a two-part state assessment system, the DRDP-R (Desired Results Developmental Profile-revised) and the ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale). The California Preschool Learning Foundations also provide developmentally-appropriate program recommendations and support. On-going staff development assures we are using best practices to prepare children for a seamless transition between our child care programs and MUSD elementary school environments.
