POSSIBLE GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND MEASURE ON THE JUNE 2012 BALLOT

A local measure to provide safe and up-to-date classrooms for our students

Students in Milpitas Unified School District receive a high quality education, with an emphasis on science, math, reading and writing.  Our schools, however, need basic repairs to classrooms, upgraded science labs and technology for 21st century learning and additional classrooms to accommodate our growing student enrollment.  To protect the quality of education in our community, the MUSD Board of Education is considering placing a local bond measure on the June 2012 ballot.  The measure would generate $95 million and cost property owners an average of $50 per $100,000 of assessed value.

Community Input

The District welcomes the community’s input and questions during this planning phase.  The District is seeking input from parents, teachers, school staff, local elected officials, community leaders, voters and Milpitas community members to help develop the local measure to upgrade and repair our local schools.

In effort to better understand the priorities of Milpitas voters, the District hired EMC Research to conduct a poll in November 2011.  The poll helped the District understand how voters view our local schools, how voters prioritize potential bond projects and whether voters would support a local bond measure.  The results indicate that Milpitas USD voters support renovating our schools to provide a safe learning environment for local students.  To see the full results, click here.
